Session 4

Our guest for this session was Dr. Liz Warren (@spasmunkey), Liz is  the Operations Lead for the International Space Station Medical Project. Liz talked to us about the different things you should be concerned about when you’re sending humans to space for a long mission.

Dr. Warren

We learned that we need to worry about radiation and about loss of bone and muscle mass due to the lack of gravity. These two among several other medical issues that are likely to come up. We also learned what is done in the ISS (International Space Station) to diminish their effect.

We had a great time and asked lots of questions.

It was a lot of fun for all of us. We learned a lot about space medicine, and we asked plenty of questions about the most diverse situations. Thanks a lot for joining us, Dr. Warren!
